WHAT IS DUAL CONCURRENT WIFI?

Dual Band routers have the capability to transmit both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz wireless bands. There are
two types of dual band routers – concurrent and selectable.

Concurrent Dual Band Selectable Dual Band
Twice the bandwidth Same bandwidth as a single band router
Dedicated WiFi network for Video/Gaming and light WiFi use Single WiFi network for all devices – Not different than single band routers
Separate networks avoid interference Single network is more crowded
Two separate WiFi networks operating simultaneously Selectable single band wifi network – either 2.4GHz or 5GHz

Usage:

Concurrent WiFi is mostly used in enterprise surroundings, or places where high quality and availability of WiFi is needed, for example where clients have a lot of video calls, video streaming, gaming needs, etc. For those situations 5HGz is used, and for everything else that needs less bandwidth 2.4GHz is used simultaneously.

One downside do 5GHz is that it has a bit shorter range, but still, it’s great for demanding activities.
